Felicia Chang is a Vancouver based documentary photographer and someone I have looked up to for years. This summer, Felicia spent time capturing my boys and I on a trip to Vancouver Island to visit my mom.

I first saw Felicia speak at the Real Life Conference in 2019. And I’ve just signed up for her Quietly Loud workshop with Kristine Nyborg!
During our Day in the Life session Felicia captured everything! From riding the ferry to hugs with Nana to morning cuddles and beach time. I have so many favourite images, but today I’m sharing some of my favourite people’s favourite images.
Maverick’s Picks
Mav chose images where he was showing off his gymnastics abilities, his favourite snake and his favourite person to cuddle ; )

Kane’s Picks
Kane only chose images with the ferry toy he had bought, except for the one off with the water gun!
Nana’s Picks
I specifically asked my mom to choose some images she loved that included her.
Harrison’s Picks
Harrison wasn’t with us on this particular trip, but he had no problem picking some favourites. In fact, these are just a few of his favourites.

Watch the slideshow!
I think you probably know that I LOVE documentary style photography. Felicia is a master storyteller. She created this beautiful slideshow that the boys and I have watched over and over and over.
I Was There Too
I love seeing myself in photos with my kids and my mom because #IWasThereToo. I don’t know about you, but I could pick out any number of things about myself that I don’t like. Where did that belly come from? Are there more lines around my face than last year? But that’s not what my kids see. That’s not what matters. Existing in photos for my kids matters.
I have so many more ideas about what I want to do with these photos. I’ve already ordered some of my favourites in this Collage Wall by Technicare.

Stay tuned for all of the things I plan to do with these images! Obviously I have big plans for a digital story.
And maybe, just maybe it will entice you to hire a photographer to capture you and your family’s story.
This is a beautiful, heartfelt video of your trip to “Nana’s House”…..
