DST Opportunities & Events

Do you have a story you want to tell?

A digital story is a 2-4 minute movie created using video editing software. It involves writing a story, voicing that story, choosing visuals and music to compliment the story and finally sharing the story with those you choose.

Are you interested in the idea of creating a personal digital story?

Want some more information before proposing the idea to a non-profit organization or business?

I would love to talk digital storytelling with you!

Or scroll down to find out about new opportunities to tell your own story.

Tell Your Story – Winter 2024
Virtual DST Workshop

In this 8 week workshop Kristy will guide participants in developing their own digital story using the four step Common Language digital storytelling process.

Digital Storytelling uses photos, videos, music and your own voice to tell an important story from your life. The finished stories are a video between 2-4 minutes in length. You can create a Digital Story for your own personal enrichment, or you can choose to share it publicly to convey an important message or life experience. Kristy will help you find meaningful moments from your life to help you focus your story, then she will help you write and record a voiceover and give you some basic video editing techniques. Family and friends can be invited to view the completed Digital Stories as part of the final class on March 26.

Below is the outline of what you can expect. No previous experience is required.

So you are interested in digital storytelling…but not quite there yet

As I now teach for Common Language DST, digital storytelling facilitation training for health and wellness changemakers, I am sometimes in need of volunteer storytellers. Please fill in my Storytelling Interest form if you would like to be contacted when storytelling opportunities arise.

If you do not want to be contacted about volunteer opportunities, but you still want to know about what’s happening with digital storytelling fill out this link instead. It’s my newsletter.

Another option (with even less commitment) is to subscribe to the Leading Through Stories podcast here. The podcast features conversations with both storytellers and digital storytelling facilitators about the stories they are creating and sharing.

Life is made up of meaningful momentswhich ones do you want to share?

An Evening of Digital Storytelling
In Person & Virtual Events

“The shortest distance between two people is a story.” – Patti Digh

Sharing stories is an integral part of the process. Each digital story screening is a chance to celebrate the digital storytellers sharing stories, to learn more about what digital storytelling is and to connect with others through conversations.

These screenings are free. I hope you’ll join us!

Common Language – Virtual Screenings

Kitchen Table Nights with Common Language DST

Four times every year Common Language trained DST facilitators invite participants from their various projects to a public online screening and discussion. Each Kitchen Table Night showcases 3-4 stories and includes group discussions and interviews with the storytellers. So, grab some food, a drink, and come meet us at the kitchen table for a dose of wisdom.
