A digital story is a 2-4 minute movie created using video editing software. It involves writing a story, voicing that story, choosing visuals and music to compliment the story and finally sharing the story with those you choose.
Wait, you haven’t seen a digital story?

An Evening of Digital Storytelling – In Person Event

“The shortest distance between two people is a story.” – Patti Digh
Sharing stories is an integral part of the process. So we’re getting together at artsPlace in the spring for the third public digital story screening and discussion.
This evening is a chance to celebrate the digital storytellers sharing stories in the Bow Valley, to learn more about what digital storytelling is and to connect with our community. I hope you’ll join us!
The screening is free. Drinks and popcorn are available for purchase.
**Please note content may not be suitable for kids
Common Language – Virtual Screenings

Four times every year Common Language trained DST facilitators invite participants from their various projects to a public online screening and discussion. Each Kitchen Table Night showcases 3-4 stories and includes group discussions and interviews with the storytellers. So, grab some food, a drink, and come meet us at the kitchen table for a dose of wisdom.
Introduction to Storytelling – DST Workshop
This interactive workshop will help participants learn to recognize the meaningful moments in their own extraordinary and routine experiences. We will explore: why stories matter; story structure and delivery; and there will also be dedicated time for self-reflection and one-on-one feedback to help participants identify important lessons embedded in their own experiences. Participants will leave with a rough outline of their story.
Past Events

Sharing stories is an integral part of the process. In honour of heart week, we will be sharing a number of stories created by storytellers from the cardiac world. All are invited to attend as an audience member. This is perfect if you have heard about digital storytelling and want to know a little bit more.
